Holden, General Motors' Australian subsidiary, ran the Caprice production line at Elizabeth in South Australia from August 2006 through to October 2017. GCC customers in the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Oman received the car from 2007 under Chevrolet badging. The Middle East absorbed the majority of export units, which explains why WM and WN Caprices are a regular sight on Abu Dhabi roads despite the relatively modest total build numbers.

GM Zeta is the platform, and it started with the long-wheelbase Caprice and Statesman before Holden shortened it to produce the Commodore. Understanding that direction matters when a catalogue offers you a Commodore entry for a Caprice job: the Commodore is a cut-down Caprice, not the other way around, and the part numbers do not always cross.

Globally, the Zeta platform produced the Holden Caprice and Statesman in Australia, the Chevrolet Caprice PPV for US law enforcement, the Buick Park Avenue in China, the Daewoo Veritas in South Korea and the HSV Grange in performance specification. Cross-referencing those siblings can help place an unfamiliar component, but the build that governs what goes on your car is locked in the VIN. We run it first.

One body shell covered eleven years of production, and the exterior barely moved. What changed was under the bonnet and in the running gear. Match your build year to the table below and most service parts narrow to one or two part numbers. The VIN settles the rest.

For Gulf cars one thing is worth knowing early: from the WM Series II update in 2011, the 3.6 litre V6 was pulled from the Middle East specification. A Gulf-market car built after 2011 is a V8. Service items including filters, plugs and ignition components are different across those engine families, so the engine check is not optional.

Running a heavy, long-wheelbase rear-wheel-drive car through Gulf summers takes a toll on specific components. Front pads and rotors, lower arm bushes and the cooling system are the parts our Caprice customers come back for most often. Platform-sharing does not mean parts-sharing. The Caprice and Lumina look related because they are, but the only exterior panels that physically transfer are the front windscreen and front doors. The Caprice's rear doors are a different, longer part, cut specifically for the longer body. Ordering body, glass or trim from a Lumina listing and expecting it to fit a Caprice is the mistake we undo most often.

Below the body the answer is not a flat yes or no. Some brake and service parts run across the Zeta family without issue. Suspension components are less predictable: the Caprice carries a different rear geometry and more weight, and not all Lumina suspension pieces apply. A quick VIN check against the specific part you are asking about takes about a minute and gives you a straight answer.

The VIN is 17 characters and sits at the base of the windscreen, visible from outside on the driver's side, or on the compliance plate in the driver's door aperture. On Australian-built cars in this family, the VIN opens with 6G, so that prefix tells you in one glance that the car came from the Elizabeth plant rather than a North American facility. When Holden shut the Elizabeth plant in October 2017, Caprice production ended with it, and that word 'discontinued' follows the car around. What it does not mean is that the parts have stopped. Brakes, suspension, filters, ignition and cooling, the items the car actually consumes, are on normal supply and we hold them here. Body panels, interior trim and certain electronics are a different story; those we source against a confirmed lead time.

The part numbers below come from the Australian ACDelco and GM Holden service catalogue, not from a US-format guide. Holden built the Caprice, so the codes follow Australian conventions: the AC09x series for oil filters, ACA for air filters, ACC for cabin filters, ACDR for brake rotors. Numbers shared with the Chevrolet Lumina reflect shared engines: a 6.0 L77 V8 is the same unit whether it sits in a Caprice or a Lumina, and the engine dictates the part, not the badge on the bonnet.

Check your engine before reading the table. Gulf Caprices built from 2011 are V8 only; the 3.6 V6 left the Middle East specification at the WM Series II update. V6 rows in the table apply only to Gulf cars made before that cut-off. Rotor sizes follow the engine: V8 front is 321 mm and rear is 324 mm; V6 front is 298 mm and rear is 302 mm. Taking a number from the wrong column puts the wrong rotor on the car.

One disclosure about the rear brake pad: DB1766 in this table is an Australian aftermarket interchange number. It comes from aftermarket brand catalogues, not from an ACDelco application guide, and we have not confirmed ACDelco's own rear pad code for this application. Use it as a reference where your supplier carries it; send the VIN and we tell you what we actually hold. Three sourcing gaps remain open: the police-specification pad for the PPV package (Gulf civilian WM/WN is not a PPV so standard pads apply, but the PPV number was not sourced), Brembo pad and rotor numbers for HSV and Redline variants, and the standalone thermostat for the late V8 cooling housing (from September 2009 the thermostat ships as part of the water pump kit ACWP8459S, not separately).

PF457G comes up on Australian forums as a Caprice oil filter. It fits the 2.2 and 2.4 Ecotec four-cylinder; it does not fit the 3.6 HFV6 V6 or any LS-family V8. The correct filter for a V6 Caprice is PF2129G. For any V8, it is PF48E. Check availability against your VIN before you drive to M-40.
