Holden designed the VE Commodore from the ground up, the first generation developed entirely in Australia without adapting an Opel platform. For export it ran as the Chevrolet Lumina in the Middle East, the Pontiac G8 in North America and the Chevrolet Omega in Brazil. The production line at Elizabeth in South Australia ran from July 2006 through to 2013.

Export thinking went into the original design. The handbrake is recessed into a symmetrical centre console so the interior converts to left-hand drive without a redesign, which is why Gulf-market cars feel like they were built that way rather than converted. A practical result of that: a lot of interior trim and door parts cross between RHD and LHD builds. Pedal boxes, steering columns and dashboard-mounted assemblies are a different matter.

The Lumina name has appeared in the Gulf on more than one Commodore generation. A model year on its own is not enough to confirm a part; the VIN carries the build specification we need, which is why it is the first thing we ask for.

From the outside the VE ran unchanged, but three distinct mechanical specifications sit under that body. The MY2010 update swapped the 3.6 Alloytec V6 for direct-injection 3.0 and 3.6 litre engines and moved to six-speed automatics. The rear suspension changed at the same time: an extra ball joint and a thicker anti-roll bar were added, which is why rear arms and links are not interchangeable across that production date.

Body style is just as important as production year. The Sportwagon sits on the same wheelbase as the sedan but comes with stiffer springs, a revised anti-roll bar and an additional rear ball joint for load carrying. The Ute is different again: it uses the Caprice's longer wheelbase, not the sedan's. Two cars with the same build year can need entirely different rear suspension parts depending on body style.

The Musaffah counter carries ACDelco and GM Genuine Parts for the Lumina: brake pads and rotors, front control arms and bushes, rear suspension links, engine and cabin filters, oil filters, spark plugs and ignition parts. Brakes, suspension and service are the categories we go deepest on. Larger engine and cooling assemblies come in against a confirmed VIN and job description rather than being claimed as shelf stock.

The chassis is a double-pivot MacPherson front with a four-link independent rear. Well engineered, but with more individual bushes and links than a simpler suspension design, each carrying its own part number. Front lower arm bushes and rear link bushes are what Gulf Luminas need most often. Cooling parts follow once the car has been through a few summers.

The SS and SV6 came from the factory with the FE2 suspension tune. V-Series Redline cars went further with FE3 and Brembo front brakes. The VE was sold under several names across different markets, so a part search turns up multiple catalogue entries. The Pontiac G8 is the same underlying platform, and Holden even assembled around 1,500 late-production cars using G8 front-end panels before the line closed. That kind of detail is useful for chasing a component description but dangerous for ordering: a shared platform does not guarantee shared part numbers.

The Caprice shares the front windscreen and front doors with the Lumina, and that is about where the exterior similarity ends. The Caprice runs a longer wheelbase and carries a different rear geometry: suspension parts do not transfer reliably, and body panels from a Lumina listing will not fit the longer car. That mix-up at the parts counter is the one we correct most often for this family of vehicles.

The VIN is 17 characters. Find it at the base of the windscreen on the driver's side, or on the compliance plate inside the driver's door. On the VE generation, the build plate also appears on the passenger-side strut tower in the engine bay. Cars built in Australia in this family start with 6G in the VIN, which you can check in under ten seconds from outside the vehicle. If a Lumina is on the lift, send the VIN with the parts request, not the model year. Two minutes on our side versus a wasted journey is an easy trade. This generation finished production in 2013, so the wear parts are on steady supply. Body panels and trim pieces are tighter; some need a lead time. We say which before you commit to anything.

South Australia is where the Lumina VE was built, and that is where its catalogue codes come from. A North American ACDelco guide will list US-format numbers; the Lumina uses Australian codes: AC088 for the V6 oil filter, ACDR2026 for the V6 front rotor. When a supplier cannot find the part you are describing, pointing to those codes usually resolves it. This table is a fitment reference, not a stock or price list. Some rows appear in the Caprice WM/WN table too: a 6.0 L77 engine is the same unit in both cars, and the engine is what determines the part number, not the model.

Three V6 codes and one V8 family run across the VE range. Series I cars carried the 3.6 LY7 Alloytec; from September 2009 that was replaced by the 3.6 LLT SIDI and 3.0 LFW. The V8 ran as L98 in Series I, then L76 and L77 from MY09.5. The LS3 6.2 did not appear in the Lumina; that engine went to the WN Series II Caprice only. Spark plugs divide along the LY7/LLT transition. Front rotor diameter follows the V6/V8 split: 298 mm for V6 cars, 321 mm for V8 cars.

DB1766 for the rear brake pad comes from Australian aftermarket interchange catalogues, not from an ACDelco application guide; ACDelco's own rear pad code was not confirmed for this application. Treat it as a reference number for suppliers who carry it, and send the VIN so we can tell you what we stock. Two sourcing gaps remain: Brembo pad and rotor numbers for HSV SS/SV6 FE3 and Redline variants; and the 3.0 LFW water pump specifically. The V6 water pump in this table is confirmed for the 3.6 LY7/LLT; the LFW 3.0 shares the HFV6 cooling architecture but was not confirmed at engine-code level during research.

PF457G appears on Australian forums as the oil filter for this car. It fits the 2.2 and 2.4 Ecotec four-cylinder, not the 3.6 HFV6 V6 or any V8 in the LS family. V6 Lumina takes PF2129G. V8 Lumina takes PF48E. Send the VIN and we confirm what is on the shelf.
