LT Engine Parts
in Abu Dhabi
& the UAE

The EcoTec3 badge covers the Gen V small block in Escalade, Yukon, Suburban, Tahoe and Silverado truck applications; the LT1 and supercharged LT4 carry the same bottom end into the Camaro and Corvette. Collapsed lifters on cylinder-deactivation engines account for most of the LT engine calls that come to us from workshops across the UAE. Send the VIN with a fault description and we confirm the right parts from the shelf.

WHICH ENGINE YOU HAVE

Six Codes, Six Part Lists: Gen V LT Engines from L83 to LT4

GM launched the EcoTec3 family with the 2014 Silverado and Sierra pickup. Two displacements: a 5.3 litre coded L83 and a 6.2 litre coded L86, both running Active Fuel Management. Dynamic Fuel Management arrived later and is more thorough than AFM: the 5.3 with DFM became the L84, and the 6.2 with DFM became the L87. Out of the same architecture, the 6.2 LT1 and supercharged LT4 are the performance branch, fitted to the Camaro SS, C7 Corvette and the ZL1.

L86, L87 and LT1 all displace 6.2 litres and share the same short block, which is exactly where wrong orders start. Intake manifold height is where the truck and performance variants split: the taller unit on L86 and L87 is tuned for low-rpm torque, while the LT1 runs a lower-profile manifold built for high-rpm output. Identical bottom ends do not produce identical part numbers.

Displacement alone does not separate L83 from L84. Both are 5.3 litre engines; the deactivation hardware is what differs, and that is what most repairs turn on. The eighth character in the VIN identifies the specific engine on GM vehicles. That is the number we need, not the model year.

THE REPAIR THAT DRIVES THIS

When a Lifter Fails on AFM and DFM Engines: Parts a Proper Repair Covers

In a cylinder-deactivation engine, a failed lifter holds its roller seized. A seized roller drags across the camshaft lobe instead of rolling, wearing a flat into it. Ticking at startup or a P0300 misfire code are the common first signs. Running the engine past that point is what takes a lifter replacement and adds a camshaft to the invoice.

A correct repair covers more than the one failed lifter. The standard scope at workshops here is a full lifter-set swap on both banks, fresh plastic guide trays to hold the lifter alignment, a replacement camshaft when the lobe surface is worn, and the valley cover assembly when oil circuit testing shows leakage or a blocked oil screen. Head gaskets and bolts come in once the heads are lifted.

That is the stock we run deep on for LT engines, because those are the jobs that keep coming through the door. Give us the engine code and the fault scope and we build the complete parts list in one reply, so the bay does not sit empty waiting on a follow-up delivery.

What Sits on the Musaffah Shelf for LT Engines

The Musaffah shelf for LT engines covers the complete cylinder-deactivation repair set alongside the service items that this climate demands: oil filters, spark plugs, ignition coils, water pumps, thermostats, oil pump and timing components, gaskets and seals, and engine mounts.

ACDelco and GM Genuine Parts are the main lines for GM platforms at Musaffah, with aftermarket options available where they make practical sense. For a lifter-and-camshaft job, the brand decision is worth talking through. We lay out an honest comparison rather than steering you toward the more expensive option.

Model year alone is not enough to confirm a part number. Send the VIN, or read the engine code from the eighth character of it, and we name the exact part that fits.

FITMENT CHECK

Where LT Parts Stop Interchanging: AFM versus DFM, Truck versus Car

Start with the deactivation system. L83 and L86 run AFM; L84 and L87 run DFM. The valvetrain hardware between the two systems is not compatible, and that holds at equal displacement: the 5.3 AFM lifter set, guide tray and valley cover will not cross to a 5.3 DFM engine, and the same is true in reverse. Stopping a parts search at '5.3' is how the wrong part arrives.

The second divide is truck versus performance. L86 and L87 carry a taller intake for low-rpm torque; the LT1 runs a lower-profile intake for high-rpm output. Intake manifolds, covers and accessory brackets diverge even when the short block is the same. DFM faults concentrate on L84 and L87 units built in the narrow production window between late 2020 and early 2021, so build date carries weight on those engines.

The VIN sorts all of this out. The 17-character string is printed at the windscreen base on the driver's side, or on the plate inside the driver's door. Send it with a photo of the failed part and we confirm the engine code, deactivation system and the correct set before anything ships.

FOR WORKSHOPS

One Delivery for the Complete Lifter Repair: A Note for Workshops

A lifter-and-camshaft job ties up a bay for several days. What adds time is the parts delivery that arrives after the first: the guide tray, bolt set or gasket that was missed off the original enquiry. Send the VIN and the full job scope from the start; parts confirmed off the shelf before midday go out the same day within Abu Dhabi, next working day to the other six emirates.

The counter runs Monday to Saturday, 08:30–19:30. Walk-in collection is at Motronix Shop, Musaffah Industrial Area M-40, Abu Dhabi. If a part has to be sourced rather than drawn from stock, ask for the lead time before you book the work.

FITMENT REFERENCE

Gen V LT Part Number Reference for K2XX and T1XX Platforms

Part numbers in the table below come from the fitment data at parts.chevrolet.com; where a part is absent from that source, the GM dealer catalogue was checked. This is a workshop reference for K2XX and T1XX Gen V LT platforms. Run every number against your VIN on WhatsApp before placing an order.

Guide tray numbers cause more wrong orders than anything else on this list. The AFM tray, 12669184, fits the K2XX platform: Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade 2015–2020 and Silverado/Sierra 1500 for 2014 through 2018. The DFM tray, 12664915, is the T1XX part: Silverado/Sierra 1500 2019 onward, Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade 2021 onward. External dimensions look the same; internal geometry is not. The DFM tray will not seat in a K2XX AFM valley, and the AFM tray will not align with T1XX lifter bores. The platform comes from the VIN, not from the model year.

Lifter 12740071 is in the table now; GM's live catalogue number supersedes 12698946 and 12645725 and covers both AFM and DFM engines. The number by itself does not tell you the platform; the VIN still decides. Replace the full set across both banks, not only the cylinder that failed. Camshaft numbers split by engine: 12619823 for the K2XX 5.3 L83, 12723516 for the T1XX 5.3 L84, and GM's own service note says to replace the lifters when that camshaft goes in. Four numbers are not listed here and we are not guessing: the T1XX DFM valley-cover casting, the T1XX DFM oil pump, and camshafts for the 6.2 L86 and L87. Send the VIN and engine code for any of those and we quote from the shelf.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you stock AFM and DFM lifter sets for 5.3 and 6.2 GM engines?
Our deepest stock for LT engines is the cylinder-deactivation repair set. L83 and L86 run AFM hardware; L84 and L87 run DFM hardware. The two systems are not interchangeable, so send the VIN or the engine code from the eighth character and we pull the correct set from the shelf.
Should the camshaft be replaced along with the lifters?
If the lifter roller has seized, the cam lobe is part of the job. Whether it is worn enough to replace is a decision for your workshop after pulling the heads; that diagnosis is not something we make from a WhatsApp message. What we can do is keep the camshaft, the lifter set, the guide trays and gaskets ready together, so the workshop has everything on hand without a second wait.
Is the LT1 the same engine as the 6.2 in my Tahoe?
Close, but not the same engine. A Tahoe's 6.2 is an L86 or L87 by generation; both carry a tall intake manifold calibrated for low-speed torque. The Camaro and Corvette LT1 runs a lower-profile intake set up for high-rpm power. Manifolds, covers and bracket parts diverge on those two paths, so treating LT1 fitment data as a cross-reference for truck applications is not safe.
How do I find out which LT engine my car has?
The 17-character VIN is printed at the base of the windscreen on the driver's side, or on the data plate inside the driver's door. Copy it and send it to the counter. The eighth character is the engine code on GM vehicles. Displacement and model year together are still not enough: both L83 and L84 are 5.3 litres, and the difference is in the deactivation hardware that most repairs target.
Can you supply the valley cover with the deactivation solenoids?
Valley cover assembly is something to ask about early in the LT lifter job; we carry it as part of the repair set for these engines. When oil circuit testing shows internal leakage or a blocked screen, the valley cover is what stops the fault returning once the lifter work is done. Send the VIN and the test result and we confirm the right assembly.
